Game of the Week | Pokémon Go
Pokémon GO
Developer: Niantic
Publisher: Niantic
Size: 161 MB
Genre: Augmented Reality
Release Date: iOS & Android July 6th 2016
It is finally here! Pokémon GO the Augmented Reality mobile game has finally arrived. Yesterday I was bouncing back and forth from Summoners War to the App Store all day to make sure I downloaded the game. I wont lie I've never been a big Pokémon fan but I have always been intrigued by the games and this one with its real world setting has got me all kinds of excited. Here is a bit more information from Pokémon GO's wiki page:
Pokémon GO is an augmented-reality game developed by Niantic for iOS and Android devices.[2] The game was released in July 2016.[3][4] The game allows players to capture, battle, train, and trade virtual Pokémon who appear throughout the real world.[4] The game is free-to-play, although it supports in-app purchases.[5] A small wearable device was released alongside the game, called the Pokémon Go Plus. The device uses a Bluetooth connection to notify users when a Pokémon is nearby with an LED and a light rumble, and is sold separately from the app.
Different Pokémon live in different areas of the world; for example, water-type Pokémon live near water. A wristband device called the Pokémon Go Plus will be available for use with the app, enabling a more heads-up gaming experience than Ingress provides.[dubious – discuss] The device uses Bluetooth technology to connect with the players smart device and uses vibration and a flashing light to alert the player of the presence of a nearby Pokémon. The player presses the button in a coded sequence to catch the Pokémon, and can check the app later to discover which Pokémon has been captured.

So as you can see there are a lot of exciting possibility's for this game. As a matter of fact this morning I found a Rattata at my local gas station and while pulling in to work I had to stop because a Pidgeotto was roaming our parking lot!
The game is pretty neat so far using your location to find Pokémon in your area. You start off by creating your own customer Avatar, the options are kind of slim here but it'll do.
Here are the one's I've caught so far:
Positives:
- F2P: yep this is another Free to Play game
- It's Pokémon... The name alone carry's a lot of weight
- Augmented Reality: Get out there and find them in your yard, work or home
Negatives:
- F2P: more games have switched to this platform for a reason, easy money
- Avatar customization is pretty lacking
What do you think? Already download the game? Which Pokémon have you caught?

Netflix | Original Jurassic Park Trilogy
JURASSIC PARK!!! The original Jurassic Park Trilogy is now on Netflix as of June! So you need to watch them stat!
No but seriously how awesome is this, you can literally watch the movie that changed CGI as we know it. The original Jurassic Park set the standard in melding both Animatronics & CGI bringing to life Michael Crichton' vision.
Individual reviews for these movies will be coming so be on the look out for those! In the mean time make sure to check out these films on Netflix!
As a little bonus. I highly recommend going and buying this sweet Clever Girl shirt from the Chivery!
Game of the Week | Order & Chaos Online
Order & Chaos Online
Developer: Gameloft
Publisher: Gameloft
Size: 1.97 GB
Genre: Fantasy/MMORPG
Release Date: iOS 4/27/11 Android 6/27/12 Windows Phone 7/10/13
What is Order & Chaos Online?
Quite possibly the best Mobile MMORPG out there. I initially started playing this game on my iPhone 4s and on my iPad mini. Let's just say the iPad was a much better experience lol.
Like most MMORPG's you get to pick a side, Order or Chaos. I've always been an orderly type person so I chose Order. From there you jump into character creation which gives you hundreds of options to customize your character. After choosing you custom character and name you get thrusted into a sprawling world called Haradon with amazing visuals and plenty of Quests around the land to fill your time and XP bar!
Enough about the intro let me show you some screen shot of my characters and some of the visuals from the game!
Nerd_iCON was my very first character I created in the game, a Human healer! I got him to level 60 which was the max at the time but never took advantage of end game instances/raids only because I wanted to run them with friends. However none of my friends played... :( So I decided to make another character to level up with a different role. This is who I made:
This little guy is of Mendel race, kind of like a gnome in World of Warcraft. Turned him into a hunter and has been quite fun! My last and final character I took advantage of the new instant level to 60 option just to check it out. This is what he looks like:
He is also a Mendel but this one is a warrior class. When you do the instant leveling you can choose your gear depending on your class one was Tank the other DPS. I went with DPS for now with him tank gear safely tucked away in storage.
Enough about out my characters let me get to the P&N's of the game!
Positives:
- Free to Play. This game was previously a set price when I first purchased it and has since went to the free to play model.
- Graphics. I really forget that I was playing this on my phone or iPad the visuals are beautiful.
- Gameplay. If you're familiar with any MMORPG this game will be easy to pick up and start playing.
- Multiplayer. MMORPG is pretty self explanatory but this aspect, barring you have friends or can make friends while playing, is the best part of the game.
Negatives:
- Free to Play. This can be either good or bad.
- Multiplayer. Some folks can be real douchebags and it seems gaming brings out the best of them.
In the end I would absolutely recommend giving this game a try. The visuals and easy to pick up and go gameplay makes it a very fun experience.
Have you played Order & Chaos Online?

Netflix Movie of the Week | Jurassic Park
Director: Steven Spielberg
Writer: Michael Crichton
Originally Aired: June 11th 1993
If you haven't read my original post yet the original Jurassic Park trilogy is now streaming on Netflix! The start of June Netflix began streaming these and as a huge fan of the original movie I had to write up a review of Jurassic Park.
Michael Crichton laid the ground work in his book with a crazy concept to create living and breathing dinosaurs using clone technology. The creative part of the story to me when I first saw this movie was how they found millions of years old dinosaur blood. A Mosquito.
This scene pictured above was one of the most revolutionary scenes in all of movies. The first time we got to see a live dinosaur on a movie screen! Of course CGI has come a long way since then but this scene, at the time, was beyond exciting. Steven Spielberg wanted to meld both Animatronics as well as CGI to create this movie and he did just that.
You follow the billionaire John Hammond as he recruits the top archaeologists and doctors to come sign off on his new amusement park, Jurassic Park. Dr. Grant, Dr. Sattler along with Dr. Malcolm are the three experts that Hammond hires to consult him on his park. The Dr's along with Hammond's grandchildren set out through the park.
To not spoil it all for you but poo hits the fan, the parks chief computer network engineer laid forth a plan to steal dinosaur embryo's to sell to Biosyn for $1.5 million. This coupled with a tropical storm oh and of course dinosaurs the group struggles to make it out of the park alive.
So, have you seen the original Jurassic Park before? Knowing that this released in 1993 what do you think of it?

Game of the Week | Battle Run
Battle Run
Developer: Game Hive Corporation
Publisher: Game Hive Corporation
Size: 77.7 MB
Genre: Racing
Release Date: August 8th, 2013
So this game has been out for a few years. In fact it was in 2013 that I went on a road trip to South Carolina with a group of friends and we literally played this game during the entire stay! I just recently picked it back up again to find my "Molly" character still there in full mustache glory!
How can I describe this game... easy, it's like a Mario Kart Racer. Each race pits you against others around the world currently playing the game and requires you to complete a straight line race. No laps, No Karts, just a straight forward running game with obstacles and power ups along the way. Also, during each race you have the opportunity to collect stars and when you collect enough you can activate your mount. Each mount is different and this is where most of the Pay to Play comes into play. You can purchase Legendary eggs to hatch and get rare mounts.
Here are some of items available for purchase: Hats, Accessories, Clothes, Mounts, Trails & Characters
Positives:
- Free to Play. You can literally play this game as much as you want without spending a dime.
- Gameplay. Fast games, I'd say less than a minute per race, which makes for easy and fun games.
- Graphics. It may not be for everyone but I enjoy the cartoonish characters especially Molly and Spoon!
Negatives:
- Free to Play. Pay to Play. You get the idea.
- Lag/Freezing. This doesn't happen all the time and its hardly noticeable but when it happens seemingly for no reason its quite frustrating.
So what do you think? How do you like Battle Run?

E3 | Prey
So during Besthesda's E3 Conference in the midsts of it's larger franchises such as ESO, DOOM and Fallout 4 there was a small game called Prey that caught my attention. The reason this game caught my attention was because in 2006 the original Prey came out and was one of my favorite most underrated games I had ever played. This game however is neither a remake or a sequel, yet a whole new experience which I'm also looking forward to.
Any new game trailers catch your attention so far?
Did you ever play the original Prey?
