I love going to this convention even though I don’t know a whole lot about anime. It seems like they do a great job of catering to the hardcore fan and the curious newbie alike. I learn so much from everyone I meet and have been exposed to a lot of manga and anime that, otherwise, I would have never heard about.
The main thing I always look forward to at AnimeSTL is the dealer hall. I find so many interesting and unusual things that I wouldn’t think to pick up elsewhere. It’s where I discovered one of my favorite animes, Fairy Tail, I picked up a sweet survey corps jacket, got an awesome deal on a bunch of manga books, and found some nice little serving dishes with the Millenium Falcon and Serenity printed on them. It’s also where I first got to play one of my favorite games, Smash Up. You never know what you’ll find there.
The cosplay is always incredible. Some really talented people put together some awesome costumes and it’s a lot of fun to talk about the craft of costuming and grab a few pictures with these people.
Finally the events are really cool. I love to go to the dance, last year I saw a zombie gingerbread man breakdancing and thought “That’s it. I will never see anything as cool as that.” I’m sure something will prove me wrong this year.
Some of our friends are going to be there to so we are super excited to hangout and see them! Make sure to look for them and follow them on twitter. Happy Badger Studio (@HappyBadgers), StrangeHouse Podcast (@strangehousepod) GameNightGear (@gamenightgear), GeeklyPodcast (@GPodcastdotcom)
