Victori Belle @ MightyCon Dupage

Joe Brooks November 30, 2016

Hello Friends!

This past Saturday at the DuPage County Fairgrounds, Mighty Con went on despite the early morning snow. For us Midwesterners, we know this fall has been kind but man was it cold out there Saturday morning! Con goers didn't seem to mind the cold at all! Mighty Con DuPage had a steady flow of people with once again a variety of toys, collectibles, clothing and much more. A one day show like Mighty Con always seems to be a hit or miss depending on the day, but this past Saturday was surprisingly busy. People were dressed in costumes that in the summer would be unbearably hot, but today it was the right choice. I think that the costume contest showed promise and the tickets being so cheap helped bring a lot of families into the DuPage County Fairgrounds on a cold fall morning. One vendor I wanted to take note of at this event was selling handmade clothing. The vendor is Koala Art and Design and makes amazing Mermaid/Scale bras and other interesting anime and pop culture dresses! I can't wait to order one online :) (koalaartanddesign.com) Thank you Mighty Con! This small convention travels to more than 10 cities throughout the summer and fall and has always kept a steady crowd. I think this is a convention to watch out for in 2017... and it was confirmed that they are traveling to St. Louis next year! :) Look out for Mighty Con 2017 for an affordable convention for all ages. :)

Cosplacon 2016

Joe Brooks January 25, 2016

Hello nerds and nerdettes! A local event is going down June 16th - June 19th in Jefferson City Missouri at Capitol Plaza Hotel! Check out the event page on Facebook for info on tickets and other info!

Cosplacon was created in 2011.  Our passion is hosting a Cosplay, Anime, Sci-fi, and Gaming convention in Mid-Missouri that people from far and wide can come to love as their own. in 2012 we hosted the first ever Capitol City Cosplay event. With over 200 people showing up in cosplay it was a success. In 2013 we hosted the first ever Cosplacon and reached 600+ con-goers. In 2014 the second year was even better with 800 con goers and great guest we grew and had a blast. Now 2015 we kinda got lazy and had only 890 attends show :( but we know why so 2016 is go to be a year not to forget.

We want a fun and friendly environment for all. We want to be well known for how we cater to cosplayers and non-cosplayers alike.. We hope to serve all of our convention lovers and our community and to help build a year-to-year experience like no other. With two years under our belt we have learned so much and will use this to help us improve in the years to come. We Love Anime, We Love Cosplay, We Love Cosplacon.

Katsucon 2015

Joe Brooks February 10, 2015

Katsucon. What is it?!

Katsucon is a 3 day anime and Japanese convention held at the National Harbor in DC. Previously, it has been held in Arlington, and Baltimore. The convention will begin Friday February 13th and run through Sunday February 15.th  But this year marks the 21st celebration of Katsucon. What does that mean? It’s going to be jam packed with artists, events, competitions, a formal ball and even a rave!

I’m getting super psyched for this one and will be reporting to the convention on Saturday. Of course I’ll be cosplaying (as usual). But this will be my first Katsucon, and I really can’t wait. This is very different from your normal convention or comiccon. Yes it will be nerdy and packed with anime lovers but there’s something unique about this convention, it’s also a Japanese culture appreciation event.  Here you’ll find booths dedicated to various cultural aspects of Japan including; the art of the bonsai tree, a Japanese maid café, traditional Japanese food, clothing merchants, and more. OH, and its packed with anime celebrities! This year even Yaya Han will be in attendance (for those of you who aren’t familiar with her, Yaya is a world renowned cosplay model).

Oh, and what am I cosplaying as you ask? I will be in attendance this year as a blue Twi’lek Jedi. Not anime, but all costumes and fandoms are welcome! No worries, I’ll take hundreds of pictures for sharin!
